FEATURED JOBS

The Demand For Computer Security Jobs is Lucrative, and Growing

If you are looking for a job that promises a bright and lucrative future, look no further than computer security jobs. Companies, big and small, need data protection. As we become more wireless, more mobile, more dependent on electrical gadgets and more globally interdependent this field will experience rapid, significant, and sustained growth.

Companies rely on computers to perform their daily functions. The aerospace industry, financial institutions, retail companies, and even non-profit organizations depend on computers to keep their business running. Because of the need to protect sensitive information from hackers, the demands for computer security jobs continue to increase.

You may be asking what it takes to get computer security jobs. Well, it’s not easy. You have to have extensive knowledge about systems, servers, data management and how different hardware and software integrate within an organization.

A strong understanding of system security threats and how to handle them is also vital. Hackers are everywhere and they are on the look out for unsuspecting prey, so knowing how to fight them is essential.

At a minimum you will also need to have a CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security) designation. In fact, you won’t even get mid-level computer security jobs without it

On the job experience is also a factor. Most companies prefer to hire professionals who have had at least 2 years hands-on experience. The position handles very sensitive data so companies are understandably choosy when hiring their personnel. It is not uncommon for more extensive background checks to be required.

It is not hard to look for computer security jobs because they are heavily advertised. As I’ve said, this is a critical position and companies feel vulnerable when they are left vacant for very long.

The positions can come with high levels of pressure and the expectation of 24/7 availability. With this high level of responsibility come tremendous benefits.

Computer security jobs pay far above average because of their sensitive nature. And the limited number of professionals in this field leaves room to penetrate the industry, but you have to invest in your knowledge and be really good at what you do in order to land a job.

More and more people are becoming interested in technical fields. If you are someone with a propensity for these types of technical skills, I suggest you take a look at computer security jobs and see whether you qualify or not. If not, then work on your qualifications.
